United Nations

From here one can access information on all the various aspects of the work of the United Nations as well as documents published by the Security Council, the General Assembly and the Secretary General.

The International Law page of the United Nations

This page provides useful links to a number websites such as the Office of  Legal Affairs page, which contains a large number of documents and speeches prepared by the Legal Counsel of the UN, and the Sixth Committee page, which provides information on the annual discussions at the General Assembly's legal committee.

United Nations System of Organisations Website Locator

Provides an alphabetical index of websites of the UN system of organisations (committees, commissions, agencies, funds, programmes and other bodies), with links.

United Nations Treaties Database

Searchable database of the text and status of treaties deposited with the UN Secretary General, in addition to the UN Treaty Series and the League of Nations Treaty Series.

Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights

Provides a large amount of resources including text of UN international human rights treaties, jurisprudence of UN human rights complaints mechanisms, reports and publications on a wide variety of human rights and international law issues and a searchable database of statements and press releases.

The International Court of Justice

All of the Court's case law may be accessed from this site, together with information as to the history and composition of the Court, rules of procedure etc .

The International Criminal Court

Contains information on the ICC, including the text of the Rome Statute, the Court's Official Journal and Newsletter and information on situations referred to the Office of the Prosecutor.

International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia

Contains information on the ICTY, rules of procedure, indictments and judgments and a variety of publications relating to international criminal law.

International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda

Contains information on the ICTR, judgments, rules of procedure, practice directions in addition to a variety of publications relating to international criminal law.

The International Law Commission

Provides Reports and the Programme of Work of the ILC, together with background information as to its establishment and the nature of its activities.

The Council of Europe

The Legal Affairs section of this website provides information on the work of the Council of Europe in promoting democracy, human rights and the rule of law, as well as a treaty series of treaties, containing the text and status of the treaties of the Council of Europe.

The European Court of Human Rights

This site includes a full database of the Court's case law, the text of the European Convention on Human Rights and detailed background information on the Court and the nature of its case law.

The Permanent Court of Arbitration

Includes annual reports, research publications, information on recent and pending cases as well as convention texts and rules of procedure.

The International Committee of the Red Cross

The Humanitarian Law sections of this website provides detailed information on international humanitarian law, the text and status of the Geneva Conventions and other treaties, as well as an archive of the International Review of the Red Cross .

This site contains a database and guide to electronic resources on international law together with a “Timely Topics” section prepared by the editors of the American Journal of International Law .

Irish Human Rights Commission

Contains a wide variety of useful publications, reports, research papers and speeches.

The Irish Society of International Law

Contains an event guide, international law links and membership information.

The International Law Association

Provides information on membership, publications and events, together with a number of links.

Irish Centre for Human Rights

Provides information on conferences, seminars and useful bibliographies on a variety of international law topics.

EU Statements on International Law at the UN

Provides the text of statements on matters of international law made by the EU Presidency, on behalf of the EU, at the United Nations.

The European Journal of International Law

Provides an archive of EJIL articles, a discussion page and links to useful international law sites.

University of Minnesota Human Rights Library

Contains extensive materials on international law and human rights, in addition to search engines, updates and links to useful international law sites.

Peace Palace Library

Contains useful bibliographies on a variety of international law topics.

Canada and the International Criminal Court

This site, maintained by the Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, provides detailed and extensive information on the structure and the history of the ICC and includes in-depth materials on topics such as victims rights, the rights of the accused, gender and the ICC.

Project on International Courts and Tribunals

This website details the research work of the Project International Courts and Tribunals, providing information on a wide range of international tribunals, latest news, thematic research papers and a newsletter, together with useful links.

The Avalon Project on the Laws of War, Yale Law School

A vast array of international legal materials is available from this site, with a focus on international humanitarian law. Includes, for example, reports of the Nuremberg Trials and the Hague Peace Conference 1899. Also provides a link to Project Diana, a very extensive online human rights archive.

Research Guide to International Law on the Internet, Massimo Magagni, University of Bologna 

Offers an extensive guide to internet resources on a wide range of international law topics including, international organisations, international criminal law, law of the sea, international trade law, human rights and the law of armed conflict.
