If you are an Irish citizen in need of emergency assistance, contact the Embassy on telephone number: + 45 35 47 32 00. If you phone outside regular opening hours, you will be asked to call an emergency number and leave a message. When you leave a message state your name, phone number and the nature of the problem. The answerphone is monitored regularly, and the Duty Officer at the Embassy will contact you as soon as possible.
If your passport is lost or stolen, report the loss or theft to the nearest police station as soon as possible. The police will issue you with a Police Certificate of Loss confirming that you have made a report.
The Embassy or the Honorary Consulate can then issue you with an Emergency Travel Certificate. You will need to bring the Certificate of Loss, two passport photographs, evidence of identification, and your flight tickets to the Embassy when applying for an Emergency Travel Certificate. There is a fee of DKK 45 for this service.
If you are the victim of a crime while in Denmark, please contact the nearest police station as soon as possible (dial 112 for emergencies, 114 for the nearest police station). Normally, reports are only accepted if made in person and it can be difficult to make a report once you have left Denmark. Be sure to ask for a copy of the statement certifying your report; this may be necessary for follow-up investigation, insurance claims, etc.
If you are arrested, the Danish authorities are obliged to inform
the Embassy of your arrest.
